I think it’s fair to say that most of the United States is shocked and saddened by the events which unfolded in Orlando, FL on June 12, 2016 and Dallas, TX on July 7, 2016. I offer my sincere condolences to all the victims and everyone who experienced the terror. I pray for them all, as well as for a society which has developed perspectives which drive some to these extreme actions.
I originally started writing the below in response to the Orlando incident but felt compelled to accept inspiration to say the right words. I’m not sure the inspiration has come, and I am deeply saddened by both events, but I think it’s necessary to attempt to remain positive and write. Something has to change and maybe this will make sense to someone, enough to decide to do something positive.
When you remove the differences we perceive, for example, the fact that one shooter was a Muslim, the other an African American, both events were incredibly similar. Both were the result of someone who allowed himself to focus on the differences, fill himself up with hate and rage, and act negatively. These men wanted to hate and wanted to kill. We can’t allow ourselves to react the same way they did.
One problem we are currently facing is based on the fact that humans share some very important characteristics. One of these characteristics is called “consciousness”. You often see it in lesser forms when you are in any social group. The “crowd” mentality is a perfect example. People act a certain way when they are in a crowd. They react to the way the crowd as a whole is thinking. Their consciousness blends with that of the crowd and everyone starts to think alike. Often times things get out of control, and people start to act differently than they would if they were not a part of that crowd.
The human race is just an extension of that crowd, and the individual is one component of it. All the influences you are exposed to contribute to your perception of things, and you think according to the perception you have. Your outlook on everything is based on that perception and the thoughts you have from that perspective. That’s why we can find it offensive to kill people in general, but support it under certain circumstances. From one perspective it’s very wrong, from another it’s very right. Yet even in times of war, the families of those killed do not find it to be “right”. From their perspective the people who killed their loved one are wrong – they are the bad guys, the animals, the enemy – and vice versa, because this works both ways. Can both perspectives be right? Can they both be wrong?
Many things have contributed to our current level of consciousness. Deliberate attempts to create a very negative collective consciousness can be seen everywhere. It’s easy to turn on the news or watch TV commercials about all kinds of physical ailments; we see violence and greed daily. The more we confront these and a host of other negative issues the worse they seem to get. Dragging down the collective human consciousness and the perspective from which each of us think is the ultimate goal of a very negative influence. This influence has been silently working against a positive perspective draining us of hope and love and faith in humanity for thousands of years.
This can change, and you can be an instrument of that change. In fact, this is our mission, together – to fill the world with love, the ENERGY of love. This isn’t some acid-inspired trip in which I’ve traveled deep inside myself and “seen” what love energy looks like. This is real, and if you give it a chance, you’ll see, too, that it makes sense.
Whatever your religious beliefs, I think we can make the case that energy, which I will call Love, is the source of everything in existence. It is a real, quantifiable force which fills all existence – from the cells in our bodies to the galaxy as a whole. It is pure energy and as such is capable of everything you might expect of any form of energy. It is the most powerful form of energy and has been the invisible force behind every miracle, every answered prayer and every good deed and positive outcome ever performed or experienced. Without a doubt, it has no equal. And in the right environment, it knows no limit. No miracle is without its’ influence and no catastrophe is beyond its’ intervention.
Humankind, while experiencing a previously unimaginable level of technology and potential, has created a consciousness focused on our differences, whether physical, economic or philosophical. We have become more interested in material gain without regard for the impact on fellow man, his environment or the energy of love. This has been a slow but steady process affecting our perceptions and decisions. The process divides us by focusing our consciousness on our differences instead of our similarities. Instead of seeing a human, we see black or white skin. Instead of seeing someone who needs food or clothing we see someone who is lazy or “using the system” to their advantage. We have allowed ourselves to categorize just about every aspect of our existence which exaggerates the differences and keep us from seeing the Truth – that we are all the same and we need to react with love and kindness, not in a spirit of revenge and hate.
We have the power to change things. We have the power to turn hate into love. That love must be CREATED – literally – by all of us. Ironically, we must use the current attitude of hate and anger as our building blocks by CHANGING it into love. We have the ability to manufacture the energy of love from within ourselves. It is imperative that we remember or quickly learn how to do it. I can not emphasize this enough – we can not react in anger or hate – or even fear. We must respond with love. Fighting by it’s very nature is a negative act producing negative energy. This paradigm must be loved out of existence, the same way every bit of negative energy must be changed through positive action and reaction.
It’s easy to want revenge. When we’ve been wronged, it’s easy to hate. The current state of our consciousness makes it a little more difficult to choose forgiveness and love, but that is exactly what we need to do. We need to turn the other cheek and fix this madness, not fight back and contribute to it.
